Walking and running

Two happy people holding a running certificate.
Group of seven people outdoors with mountains in the background.

I have undertaken some training with Malcolm Balk at www.theartofrunning.com  so am able to help develop skills in walking and running based on the principles of the Alexander Technique.

Walking

Walking comes naturally? Yes? Of course, most of the time it does but there are ways to help improve the ways we walk.

  • Are you fairly evenly balanced between your legs? Do you lurch a bit?
  • Is your weight central, forward or back as you move forward?
  • Do you initiate forward movement using your back foot or pull your body forwards from your front foot?

I am running some small group sessions on walking currently, please contact me for information.

Running

Running is a very popular form of exercise for very good reasons , it  can be good for your cardio-vascular system, your bone strength and your general musculature. As with walking, there are ways to move well with an easy usage of the hips, legs and upper body.

If you would like me to provide some advice on running please contact me to discuss the options
